Chiropractor for scoliosis

At The Family Chiropractor, we understand that no two people are the same, and we therefore work with individually tailored treatment plans that are completely tailored to your specific scoliosis type, medical history and your needs. So are you looking for a specialised chiropractor for scoliosis, with a holistic view and a personalised approach? Then The Family Chiropractor in Den Bosch is the right place for you!

Scoliosis can be very limiting in daily activities, yet in our practice, we often see that people stay with their symptoms for a long time. Common problems with scoliosis include pain in the neck, back or shoulders, problems with balance, radiating pain to the legs, difficulty moving and sometimes breathing problems. Chiropractic care can be very effective in relieving the pain caused by scoliosis, helping you to become more flexible as well as get a better posture.

At The Family Chiropractor, we take a holistic view of the body, so we don't just look at your scoliosis, but rather at your entire body, lifestyle and stature. We understand that scoliosis is more than just a curvature of the spine, and we therefore focus on improving your overall health and well-being.

Chiropractic care focused on scoliosis: our approach

At The Family Chiropractor we operate a holistic method. This means we look not only at the scoliosis, but also at your whole body, lifestyle and posture. Our approach consists of:

  • Chiropractic corrections ('adjustments) to remove blockages in the spine.

  • Analysis of your movement and posture habits.

  • Integration of targeted exercises against scoliosis (see next section).

  • Lifestyle advice such as ergonomics, posture and muscle-strengthening routines.

This approach obviously addresses symptomatic relief (pain relief), but we focus even more on structural improvements for the future.

Effective scoliosis exercises to do at home

The scoliosis exercises below will help you strengthen your posture, increase flexibility and support the spine.

Disclaimer: always consult with your healthcare provider before starting new exercises

  • Side hip stretch
Lying on the side, slowly lift the upper leg. Hold for a moment and lower in a controlled manner. Repeat 10-15× per side.
  • Cat-Cow stretch
Start on hands and knees. Arch your back on inhale, arch your back on exhale. Repeat 10-15×.
  • Bridge (hip bridge)
Lie on your back with knees bent. Lift your hips until your body forms a straight line. Tighten your glutes. Hold briefly. Repeat 10-15×
  • Pelvic tilts
Lie with knees bent. Tilt your pelvis forward and back, moving slowly and in a controlled manner. Repeat 10-15×.
  • Lateral rotations With knees bent on back: lower knees to one side, hold for a moment, bring back, switch sides. Repeat per side 10-15×.

Perform these exercises regularly, preferably under guidance or properly instructed by your chiropractor. This way, you will not only strengthen muscles but also promote overall stability and posture.

Possible causes of scoliosis

We see more often in our practice that people know they have scoliosis, but have never actually been properly educated about the causes of scoliosis. Possible causes of scoliosis are:

  • Hereditary predisposition or genetic factors.

  • Unbalanced muscle development, such as weak abdominal or back muscles.

  • Versatile use of posture or daily strain, such as prolonged asymmetrical sitting or carrying.

  • Growths or changes during growth periods, especially among young people.

By identifying these causes, we can devise an effective treatment strategy aimed at reducing the curvature and preventing further deterioration.

Your benefits at The Family Chiropractor

  • Personalised, person-centred care tailored to your scoliosis type and lifestyle.

  • Resolution of complaints through a natural, drug-free approach.
